“Funny Gals” Comedy Show to Benefit Women’s
Historical Center
Lansing,
MI —A gaggle of giggle-inducing female comedians will
descend upon the Cadillac Club on Saturday, April 26 in a special
show to benefit the Michigan Women’s Historical Center—the
state’s only museum dedicated to preserving and presenting
women’s history. The benefit performance will begin at
7:30 p.m.; the club is located at 1115 S. Washington Avenue
in Lansing’s REO Town neighborhood.
Headlining
the show will be Lansing’s own Toni Imhoff, recently named
“funniest female comic” at the 2008 Las Vegas Comedy
Festival. Also scheduled to perform are Lansing City Councilwoman
Kathie Dunbar, Shelly Smith, M.J. Pope, and Brenda Nelson as
well as five members of metro Detroit’s Womyn’s
Komedy Netwerk: Erica Lynn, Julie Lyons, Kris McLonis, Terrye
Summers, and Stephanie Hillier.
Tickets
are $20 each and may be purchased at the door the night of the
event or before the event through the Michigan Women’s
Historical Center. All proceeds will go to the operating fund
of the historical center.
The
Michigan Women’s Historical Center was established in
1987 by the Michigan Women’s Studies Association, which
seeks to improve what is taught and thought about Michigan women
in history. Inside the Historical Center are changing galleries
highlighting women’s history and art as well as the Michigan
Women’s Hall of Fame, commemorating more than 200 Michigan
women past and present. Operating hours are from noon to 5:00
p.m. Wednesday through Friday, noon to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, and
2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Photographs, biographical sketches,
and lesson plans relating to the Hall of Fame honorees may also
be viewed online at http://hall.michiganwomenshalloffame.org.
